-Are all of your stories part of one ‘verse?
Nope. ”In Which Tony Stark Built Himself Some Friends (But His Family Was Assigned By Nick Fury)” and “Phil Coulson’s Casefiles of the Toasterverse” are from one timeline, commonly referred to as the Toasterverse, the Roombaverse, or ‘that terrifying mess.’
Unless otherwise stated, any ficlets found here likely belong in the Toasterverse. 8)
"Tales of the Bots" is an independent timeline, and shares many things and characteristics, but is much more tightly tied to canon. Since the first few stories from the Toasterverse were written before the US release of The Avengers, I was flying kind of blind, and I’ve stuck with my characterizations. 8)
-The Toasterverse seems terrifyingly confusing! Do you have a timeline as to how these stories fit together?
The main stories are in order. The Casefiles fill cracks here and there and expound and expand on certain points.
They fall like this for now:
SHIELD Has Paperwork for Everything (Casefile 5)
Hollow Your Bones Like a Bird’s (Casefile 6)
Some Things Shouldn’t Be a Chore (Toasterverse 1)
Ordinary Workplace Hazards (Toasterverse 2)
Phil Coulson is Not the Avengers PR Manager (Casefile 1)
Phil Coulson Does Not Bake (Casefile 2)
Phil Coulson Wasn’t Grown In a Lab (He Has a Mom) (Casefile 13)
Phil Coulson is Not the Avengers’ Matchmaker (Casefile 7)
Four (Or Five) Reasons for Kidnapping Tony Stark (Toasterverse 3)
Phil Coulson is Not a SHIELD Recruiter (Casefile 3)
Phil Coulson Doesn’t Take Attendance (Casefile 6)
Discussions in Dynamic Relationships (Casefile 11)
Dating the Long Way Around (Toasterverse 4)
Things Unseen (That Are Captured on Film) (Toasterverse 5)
Phil Coulson Knows Tony Stark’s Super Villain Name (Casefile 15)
Phil Coulson Can’t Keep the Avengers Out of Medical (Casefile 4)
Extracurricular Activities (Casefile 12)
Phil Coulson Doesn’t Work for StarkIndustries (Casefile 9)
Best of Life and Asgard (Casefile 10)
Casefiles 8 (Ghosts of Christmas Memory) and 14 (Avengers Calendar) fall in multiple places in the timeline.
-Whose red underwear were they?
It’s a secret for now. Tony will reveal it in a future fic.
EDIT!: They were Rhodey’s. There was a slight miscalculation on the part of the armor removal bots and he ended up mostly naked in the workshop. He’s still suspicious about that.
-Who left the underwear on the table and the apple in the hall in “Some Things Shouldn’t Be a Chore?”
Unknown. They could find out easily enough by reviewing the security footage, or asking Jarvis, but really? The place was a mess and they were all contributing. No need to point fingers.
-What ARE the Five Reasons for Kidnapping Tony Stark?
3. To have something built
5. (Tony’s fantasy) Captain America, upon saving the world, demands that Tony be his sex slave. Tony is a-ok with this, because he is ready to sacrifice his body on the altar of the greater good. He’s gotten quite a bit of mileage out of this fantasy.
-I am concerned, your characters seem to be in danger! I really don’t like it when characters die.
Surprise Deathfic is never, ever okay. Not ever. Any small amount of ‘drama’ or ‘surprise’ that could be taken from such a thing is vastly outweighed by the damage that could be done to a reader who is not mentally or emotionally capable of dealing with a depiction of death right then.
If there is going to be death in one of my fic, even canonical death, it will be warned at the beginning of the story, and at the beginning of each and every chapter. Always.
I will also always tag for reference to violence, assault, sexual situations, PTSD, mental trauma and suicide. Always. I avoid rape and non-con for the most part, but would always, always warn for that if it ever made it into one of my fics.
This is supposed to be a place where you can read safely. If I miss a tag or trigger, please, please let me know, you can do it anon if you’re concerned or embarrassed. I will correct it.
